Save Taman Melawati Hill |

Close your eyes and see yourself walking up the road to the Hill. Enter the gate and walk up the first slope of the road. See the magnificent view of the quartz ridge and the majestic hills in the background aginst the blue sky. Feel the cool breeze against your cheeks and smell the sweet fresh air. Walk to the wooded area; see the towering trees and lush green ferns on each side of the road. Hear the symphony of cicadas and birds singing. See the squirrels darting up the tree trunk and a family of monkeys leaping from branch to branch. Walk to the top of the hill and feel the sense of freedom and feeling on top of the world. Suddenly you hear a thunderous roar. You see an army of monstrous bulldozers making their way up the hill. Chainsaws appear and tree after tree fall to the ground. The bulldozers scoop up the earth, sweeping up the ferns, palms and ginger plants in its path mercilessly. A convoy of trucks converges to the hill bringing tons of bricks, mortar and concrete. You watch helplessly as all that is beautiful and natural is uprooted and its place, dream homes stand in eerie silence. |

Bring yourself forward to the year 2027. You have your child or grandchild on your lap. You show them old pictures of the long gone Hill, and tell them nostalgically of how beautiful it was and what happened to it. The children ask "Why did you not stop them from destroying the trees and the animals" |
