| Saving Taman Melawati Hill |
| by R. D. Peace |
|
I have recently read in detail the links / comments in your web site. I have
previously enjoyed walking the trail on your beloved hill on several
occasions. It saddens me greatly that such an idealic area could be destroyed
purely through greed more often described as "progress".
As a visitor to your country on numerous occasions, I was fortunate to have been
introduced to this area and enjoyed its virtues.
I hope that your actions will make people stand up and take notice! We cannot allow
such areas to disappear!

| Bungalow at Jalan P |
| by Keng |
|
Last week I took an evening job to Jalan P where I use to do for about 11
years now, to enjoy the serenity of the river and to listen to the birds in
the evening. SADLY! the sight is no longer eye pleasing as it was the last
time I went jogging and saw the barricade being put up there about a month
ago. The river where once you can see tiny fish swimming is gone replaced with
construction debris and silt.
They destroy the natural environment and promote their project to be living with
nature, boost all kind of nature marketing and advertising, only to have more houses
build in beside existing projects in the future. Just like amberhill and 20trees!!
Boycott them! If you but any houses there, in a few yrs new projects might crop up
beside your housing area, again in the name 'live in nature'. They keep quiet when
residence protest, then start operation demolition when we are not aware.
The ongoing development of hillside project is a disgrace to Malaysia!! Always the
$$$$ first in developers eye and also those who approve. The Environmental
Assessment Impact seem to always get the "go ahead" for developer. Weird?? again
under table!!
SAVE MELAWATI!! WE CAN DO IT!! DON'T LET THOSE PRIMITIVE BEINGS (DEVELOPER) WIN!
KEEP FIGHTING!

| Saving You Hill |
| by Ben Singh |

Hi Guys,
I hope all the best in saving your hill, its a pity this is happening in
Malaysia in this century.Whoever is involved ,I bet has the blessings of
the powers. Hope the manuplative judiciary is sorted before you guys take
this through the legal channel ,if there is any chance of winning. In London
this becomes a public space called a common and is protected by law which
is impossible to manuplate. I hope and pray for all of you so that there is
a ray of hope in this.

| Taman Melawati |
| by Fathol Zaman Bukhari |
|
I was one of the earlier residents of Taman Melawati having lived in Phase 1
and later in Phase 3 between 1975 to 1998. Developments then were confined to
the outer limits of the Taman only. However, in the mid-1980s semi-D houses
began to appear on the hillslopes. A masssive landslide occured in 1987
causing two units, close to the club house, to come crashing down.I could see
it from my house.
The sight from the summit of Taman Melawati Hill was very scenic. You can look down
on KL from the top and enjoy some private moments up in the clouds close to Nature.
A tarred road leads up to the hilltop and was a favourite with joggers then.
I sold my house in Phase 3 and have since moved to Ipoh for a more relaxed
lifestyle. I visted a friend at Jalan H recently and was shocked to see the
transformation that Taman Melawati has undergone. It is no longer the same like it
was before. There is simply too many people and the traffic is horrendous. It was
fortunate of me to have moved out before things come to a heady end. So I think.
I saw your committee list. I am pleased to note that many of my army buddies are in
it, including the chairman. That is the right thing to do since Taman Melawati has
been often linked with the armed forces. We bought properties there when an offer
was made by our koperasi in the early 1970s. It was a modest investment,
nonetheless, but a right one too.
To Wahid and gang, I wish you the very best. Remember, it is pay back time. To all
residents of Taman Melawati who share a common objective you have a good team at the
helm.
Cheers.

I was surprised when I heard the minister of envoirenment Dato Azmi Khalid said he
will discuss with the developer regarding the development on the hillside.
Who is running the country? Businessmen or the government?
To those who went to see the minister thanks for your time and effort.
