SAVE THE HILL
by Langton
I have personal love for nature and believe that in with the rapid rate of technology and development 2 decades from now we wont have any natural habitats for our children to know the history of where we came from. With this remark let us save the HILL!!

save melawati - our paradise
by mohd azlan
i fully support this cause to save our beloved melawati hill. once, when i was small,i still remember melawati as how it once used to be - a lush green neighbourhood, with nice hillside views and cool weather. now, with all these developments taking place, sadly, melawati is being destroyed by irresponsible people/organisation/developers. it saddens me to see a once beautiful landscape, now compelled to becoming a looming, acrid view. i hope with these awareness brought about by this brilliant savetamanmelawatihill group, things will change - for the better.

Tmn Melawati - Always at Heart
by Mohd Nazri
Although I am no longer a resident of Taman Melawati, I have fond memories of the times during my days living there. I lived in Phase 3 and then moved to Phase 5 within the early 80's till mid 90's. I spent my teenage years there and as you all might experience, our teenage days do really hold a lot of sweet, bitter and unforgettable memories. In keeping this memories alive, I join all of you to defend whatever left of the green areas in Taman Melawati. As I have observed over the years, the Tmn Melawati town center now seems too develop to the point of saturation. Not a square foot of the land is spared. I hate to see this happens to the residential areas within Tmn Melawati. To those concern, I appeal to you to spare whatever greeneries that is left of Tmn Melawati. .... Remember: "We will conserve what we love.... We will love what we understand and We will only understand what we learn"...

Full support from R.O.M
by Nizam Ibrahim
First of all, I've been staying here in Taman Melawati since 1988 and this is the first time that we have a group of people voicing our right to protect our interest towards nature and enviroment. BRAVO!!! On behalf of R.O.M (Republic of Melawati) we are are just a small group of Mountain Bikers that sometimes ride up the Melawati Hill (we normally called it Bukit Yusoff Haslam)as part of our training ground. Beside that, we use to ride offroad and organise XC(cross-country race) at now the so called the 20 Trees and AmberHill which is near Phase 6. We will make ourself present on the 8th Sept 2007 to show our full support toward the protection against any development. However, as stated by Mr.Ramesh in his comment, we should also voice out to protect the neigbouring hills if not from development BUT at least to have some sort of compensation like retaining a portion of "the hills" for our healthy activities. R.O.M just hate any development that limited our biking activities!!!!... lets say "NO" to development of Melawati Hills. Nizam Ibrahim Mud, Sweat and Gears ....that's Mountain Biking

Keep up the good work
by Mike
I commend you great work on creating the awareness for the need of Green Lungs and recreational areas in urban areas, and the need to save Melawati Hill. If this is not done, the Klang Gates Quartz Ridge may not even be save in the near future. This hill is one of the last remaining ones in our taman. I would like to look at possibility to survey the wildlife, birds, etc on the hill for record and conservation purposes. Can you please inform if there is a collective Residents Association in Tmn Melawati that I could join and that would support efforts in saving green lungs for residents. If there is non collectively, one should be formed to tackle residents' issues here. RAs can be more effective in tackling various issues. There should be a concerted effort to save green lungs in the general areas of Tmn. Melawati as other loos of green affect this area as a whole. Keep up the good work and thanks for your great efforts! Thanks for any updates.

Enough buildings.. they don't sell!
by Dalilah
Taman Melawati is one of the last mohicans of greenery in KL/Selangor. These developers are so greedy (perhaps it runs in their blood), they just can't stand the view of natural landscape.. they have to buy them and develop and profit out of mother earth for the sake of making their pocket thicker. 'thanks khir toyo' for allowing these to happen, soon you and you fellow developers will breathe carbon dioxide. please exclue us. My husband and I used to wake up listening to the song of birds, catch the glimpse of swinging macaques whilst having tea and sleep to the sound of cicadas. Now, for the sake of Amber 'Bloody' Hill, by some unknown developer, who's about to sell the units in millions (of ringgit).. we have to forgo all these. Anyway, who can afford so very expensive properties other than those who already have money. O yeah I forgot, it's the trend now to build high end development, meant for foreign investors i.e the singaporeans. What's wrong with these people? We want FDI flowing in of course but, please not to the extent of selling the pride of the people. Are we about to repeat the mistakes of developed countries? Take cote d'azur by the mediterranean sea for example.. the locals live in boxes, the rich live in palais. Enough talk - we can protest.. but they continue. So what do we do?

Don't Settle with Promises
Mr. Lim
What hsppen to OUR GOVERNMENT servant? It should be serving the country's citizen! Not the other way. With the POWER, GREED, and who else know what, are blurr by their position... In Kuala Lumpur or Wilayah Persekutuan more and more hills is flatten to make ways for development. Even the whole state of Selangor, the green is going away. Are they don't study at all, the erath changes, will trigger the climate change (the chain reactions). At the end we are the one who suffer. Keep on the prostest. God Bless, Amen.

Your website
Heera Singh
Firstly allow me to congratulate the committee in their work of trying to save the Taman Melawati hill. It is people like you that we need so that future generations can continue to enjoy what we are enjoying today from a nature perspective. I personally feel that there is an urgent need to preserve our natural heritage and if committees like yours did not exist, then the authorities will take it for granted and KL will be an urban jungle. So I would like to end by saying 'well done', keep up the good work and I wish you every succes in your future endevours. I would also like to congratulate you on your website. It is simple and very user friendly and yet the message passed is so clear. Well done again.

A Big Thank You!
Sharanjeet K Gill
On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank all that came for the morning walk on AUGUST 11 to show support for the cause. Thank you Stupe for your so-called "2 cent" worth of words. I read your blog and have to say that your 2 cent is worth a lot, particularly when it comes to spreading the word and creating awareness among the ignorant. As for the others, thank you for your support and suggestions. The committee members and working group needs all the support and encouragement we can get! Many of you who are interested in donating money for this cause, please e-mail your contact details for us to make the necessary arrangements OR make your donations to any committee members and working group that you know. Finally, do all you can to make others aware of this cause! Secretary TMRA

we, as the majority of people just wanna know on what basis all of you against the development of bukit melawati. it is hard to accept that certain quarters of people would go against the development when it happens at their door step where as the never bother to think about the matters when they moved in long time ago.only good justifications can stop the development but giving immature reason(eg `this is the place for us for a taici session) is totally selfish and unacceptable.

Save Tmn Melawati Hill
Yukin Kupan
My name is Yukin from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. I used to live (renting) nearby the Tmn Melawati Hill in the 80ties. No major developments in that place at that time and I enjoy trekking up the hill with my friends. In support to preserve the ecological heritage of our country, which should be preserved not just for us, but for our children and future generations, I support SAVETAMANMELAWATIHILL from further development. LONG LIVE MELAWATI HILL !!!!! SAVE MELAWATI HILL !!!!

Will make my presence felt at 1700 hr (if there is anyone still around!) The pictures are great especially Hamdan and his friend. We hope that something good will come out of your determination to save the hill. Wassalam.

I wish to thank the committee for this website. Suggestions, please:
1. list the committee members/credentials/bio-data and contact. just basic info on where we work/profession.
2. likewise have a list of the residents concerned - i am one person who lives in Phase 2, Jalan A8.
3. Have a sign-up, show of support page. we can get as many people to sign up as possible. we can even get people who are non residents but simply nature lovers and environmentalists. This website will be forwarded to as many people in my e-list as possible for others to sign our petition.
4. start a forum fo discussion/comments/action plan

Protest on Land Developement at Melawati
by Azhari Abdul Taharim
Being a residence of Melawati,my whole family feel very proud that?someone really go 2 d xtend of putting d article in M'siakini.Well done!!!Keep up d spirit n we MUST put our foot down n b really firm. Those parties involve in approving d plans as well as issuing d developement order 2 d developer must b brought forward 2 justice. Dont let them go off with their normal cliche statement, like, we'll investigate or the usual by d MB,"saya tak tahu menahu, saya akan bincang dgn pegawai saya". If I'm not wrong, all approval of developement lands in d state hs 2 go thru the state exco meetg/s. If we can't settle it with d local authority, stae govt, lets bring this 2 d PM level. Lets get d frmer finance minister,Tun Daim as well as Infrmtn Minster,Zainuddin Maidin involve. Afterall, they r d residence of Melawati.Lets do it together. Hope 2 c u guys this Sat.(nevr mind if I hv 2 skip my pasr tani!!!!)
